Barrier Cities: New Orleans

Thirty years ago, the borders between our world and the Feywild began to blur. Since then, New Orleans has learned to live with its magic. Neon light mingles with will-o’-wisps, music drifts through streets that hum with unseen energy, and the line between legend and life has all but disappeared.

The Fey walk quietly among mortals; some offering blessings, others weaving subtle chaos into the rhythm of the city. Most have learned not to question it. Others can’t help but be drawn into the mysteries that linger just beneath the surface.

In this city of beauty and danger, every deal, every song, and every roll of the dice carries weight.

Hamburg, 1999. Snow clings to iron railings and the Elbe breathes fog into narrow streets lit by trembling amber lamps. Church bells toll too slowly, and something old listens from the dark. An unlikely band is drawn together on the eve of the holiday, following whispers of hoofbeats and chain-rattle through alleyways and forgotten halls. As the night deepens, myth sharpens its claws: Krampus walks, and his plan nears its end. To stop him, the heroes must face the cost of belief—and what waits for those who look away.

Deep in the Louisiana bayou, life and death twist together in the shadows. What begins as a story of nature’s balance soon curdles into something far darker: a tale of creation gone wrong and vengeance born from the swamp itself.
A strange figure watches over these waters, half-man, half-monster, haunted by what he’s lost and what he’s become. When a scavenging mission turned adventure brings new friends to his island, old wounds are ripped open and buried secrets rise with the tide as ghosts from the past make an appearance as well.
Magic flickers where it shouldn’t, and familiar faces prove not to be what they seem. By the time dawn breaks, blood stains the water, and a new kind of horror takes hold.
Some spirits never rest. Some only wait for the right body to wear.

Content Warning:
This episode contains descriptions of real-world animal practices, including the collection of wild alligators for breeding and farming. It also discusses the harvesting of alligators for their skin and meat, as well as certain extreme methods involving the killing of adult alligators and the culling of entire clutches rather than releasing them back into the wild. Listener discretion is advised, especially for those who may find discussions of animal harm or ethical treatment distressing.

Before the chaos at Cold Springs Cold Brews, before the gunfire and the ghosts, there was only a boy on a porch—a watchful eye in the Garden District, learning to see what others missed. But some mysteries aren’t meant to be solved, and some truths refuse to stay buried.
Now, that same curiosity leads to ruin. A friend turns violent, old magic lashes out, and something unseen forces its way into the living. Voices whisper threats from nowhere, and eyes once blind to spirits now see too much.
As the crew struggles to survive, loyalties fracture and strange powers surface. A haunting name lingers on every breath, pulling them toward a past none of them are ready to face.
In the swamps beyond the city, they find a moment’s refuge—just long enough for one miracle, one secret, and one stirring of a almost forgotten friend.
The question isn’t what’s following them anymore.
It’s what’s waking up.

Before the chaos at Cold Springs Cold Brews, there was the bayou: a place where love, loss, and dark bargains intertwine. A desperate plea for forever went wrong, binding two souls in ways neither heaven nor hell intended.
Now, that old curse stirs again. The veil between life and death slips, and when a spirit reaches for the wrong body, family and fate collide. The bar becomes a stage for panic, revelation, and uneasy alliances, as tempers flare and old magic seeps through the cracks.
But peace is short-lived. A haunting sound splits the night, and something ancient answers the call, wearing a familiar voice and carrying unfinished business with the living.

In the heart of New Orleans’ French Quarter, chaos hits a high note when a mysterious force of sound shatters the night at Cold Springs Cold Brews: a bar that, ironically, serves everything but cold brew.
What begins as an ordinary evening of live music quickly erupts into pandemonium when the band becomes something… more than human. Magic and mayhem crash through the walls as hidden powers surface, old secrets unravel, and unlikely alliances form.
When the noise finally dies down, the dead don’t stay dead, and one truth cuts through the silence: in this bar, even the music has teeth.
